Top broadcaster Nick Ferrari calls giving billions in foreign aid "insane" when the UK health service is in crisis
Stop foreign aid now and redirect the billions saved to help the crisis in the health service. That's the call from broadcaster Nick Ferrari.
Stop foreign aid now and redirect the billions saved to help the crisis in the health service. That's the call from broadcaster Nick Ferrari. On his LBC radio show the journalist said he believes it is "insane" that we are funding health services abroad through the Foreign Aid budget,
but we can't afford to treat people in the UK.
Plus, a 'disturbing rewriting of our troubled past' - That's the view of former SDLP MLA Alban Maginnis, who has hit out at what he sees as a "glossing over" of the roles of senior republicans in violence. He believes this is grossly misleading to young people in NI. His article comes on the back of the release of state papers which saw allegations about the role of the former IRA commander and deputy first minister Martin McGuinness in the conflict.
Also, last night saw the first of a new six part comedy "Derry Girls" on Channel 4. The show is billed as a darkly humorous portrayal of ordinary life during the Northern Ireland Troubles. It centres around a group of school girls in Derry/Londonderry during the 90s.
