Episode 67
Helen Mark is off to Ballycarry in County Antrim with a festive edition of the programme.
Helen Mark opens up our Christmas Kist in Ballycarry, home to the annual Ulster-Scots Broadisland Gathering. East Antrim poet Davy Moore minds the day when Johnny Cash was played on the eight-track stereo, and Arlene Thompson is making a seasonal Scottish treat to eat. The Rev. John Nelson reads from Luke's Gospel in Ulster Scots, and Valerie Beattie tells Helen about the open-air nativity, a tradition special to the village. David Hume reads a poem by James Orr, the Bard of Ballycarry, reckoned the 'Robert Burns of Ulster', and there's seasonal music from flautist Ami Ogilby and the Alastair Scott Ceilidh Band.
