A bid for Belfast and Derry/Londonderry to be European City of Culture has been torpedoed because of Brexit. The European Commission has cancelled the UK's turn to host the prestigious title in 2023, disappointing the bidding cities. The joint Belfast/Derry bid was one of five in contention alongside Dundee, Nottingham, Leeds and Milton Keynes. But the commission has said the UK will no longer be eligible to have a host city after it leaves the EU in 2019. Stephen got reacting from former UKIP leader in Northern Ireland David McNarry, and the SDLP MLA Claire Hanna.

Also on the programme, "The Indian". That's how Lord Kilclooney described the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar in a controversial tweet last night. The former deputy leader of the Ulster Unionist Party - who's now a crossbench peer - later withdrew the comment saying that he used it as "shorthand" and added that he is in "no way racist". There was a storm of protest from politicians and commentators. The Alliance Party's Stephen Farry said it was racism. And the former Victims Commissioner Patricia McBride has reported his comment to the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards. Plus, do you want a casino in Belfast? That's part of what Belfast City Council will be asking in a new consultation. The council are meeting today to discuss it - but essentially this would see changes to our licensing laws, that could pave the way for a huge casino in the city!
