IVF, Locker room talk, Penelope Lively's garden

We remember the embryologist Jean Purdy. As part of our Best Place To Be series, we look at education in Boston. Penelope Lively shows us her garden.

It's the 40th anniversary of the very first IVF baby's conception. Two men were widely celebrated for this scientific achievement, but the embryologist Jean Purdy was the third member of the team. She was central to the development of IVF, yet her contribution is largely unrecognised. She wasn't even mentioned when the Nobel Prize was awarded. We remember Jean and discuss her achievement in this anniversary week.

When it comes to education, Boston in Lincolnshire is last in our Best Place To Be A Woman report. This ranking is based on the level of educational attainment in the area rather than the performance of schools or colleges. We talk to the principal of a further education college in Boston about the challenges it faces and the support it offers to students.

The Booker Prize winning author, Penelope Lively, has a new book out called 'Life In The Garden'. It's partly a memoir and partly an exploration of gardens in literature, but also looks at fashions and style in gardening as well as the passing of time. She shows us around her garden.
