The Politics of the Best Place to be a Woman: Jo Swinson MP, Rona Mackay MSP, Emily Thornberry MP

Jo Swinson MP, Rona Mackay MSP, Emily Thornberry MP on the politics of Best Place; Victoria Derbyshire and breast cancer; telling your child about serious illness; Allison Pearson.

What are the politics behind the Best Place to be a woman in Britain? Coincidence or not, both first and second places on the list are in Scotland with a devolved government. And what of Islington in London which our analysis identified as the worst place to be a woman? We'll be debating this with Emily Thornberry who's Labour MP for Islington South and Finsbury as well as shadow foreign secretary, with Jo Swinson Lib Dem deputy leader and MP for best place East Dunbartonshire, and with the SNP's Rona Mackay, MSP for Strathkelvin and Bearsden.

The 麻豆社 broadcaster and journalist Victoria Derbyshire was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. She documented her treatment and recovery in a series of video diaries. She's now shared her day to day experience of that period in a book 'Dear Cancer, Love Victoria a Mum's Diary of Hope'. She talks to Jenni. Victoria has two young sons. How do you tell your child or children that you have a serious illness? Is there a right or wrong way? They are joined by Dany Bell, specialist adviser for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Allison Pearson's first novel, 'I Don't Know How She Does It', was a best-selling tale of modern motherhood. The book told the story of Kate Reddy, a hedge fund manager juggling her high flying career along with being a wife and mother of two small children. Fifteen years later, Kate is back in 'How Hard Can It Be?' - she has challenging teenagers, ageing parents, a marriage in meltdown and on the cusp of fifty, she is about to return to work. We talk to author Allison Pearson about her new novel.
