E-Bikes chaos continues - we reveal the info Stormont department is holding back
E-Bikes chaos continues and we reveal the info Stormont department is holding back. This programme has been edited since transmission.
One of the most talked about stories the Nolan Show has done over recent times has been E-Bikes. We revealed to the public at the beginning of the week that unlike England, Scotland and Wales people in Northern Ireland must have their push E-Bikes insured, taxed and possibly MOT'd. We take the story further this morning. The Department of Infrastructure is sitting on a key piece of information. The department knows it is currently impossible to register an E-Bike in NI. And yet they will not make that public. We have written to them and yet they continue to keep the public in the dark about this. So we are telling you this morning - you cannot register an E-Bike in NI. The question is why has a Stormont department not told any of you this. And another key question - how long have they known this? Halfords have written to all customers in NI, telling them to immediately stop using an Ebikes. Stephen spoke to Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle, he has written to the Secretary of State about the E-Bike debacle. We also spoke to Nolan listener Chris, he owns an E-Bike.
Also on the programme, Ulster Grand Prix death puts safety of sport back in spotlight. Stephen got reaction from commentator Malachi O'Doherty and former road racing champion Phillip McCallen.
