John Grant from the Great Escape

Tom Robinson is joined by John Grant for a unique 'Beating the Blues' interview recorded at the Great Escape festival in Brighton.

Tom presents his unique mix of music including 麻豆社 Introducing tracks. This week he's joined by John Grant for 'Beating The Blues' - a unique interview from this weekend's Great Escape Festival in Brighton. A worldwide audience have come to love John Grant both for his memorable songbook and for the candour and humanity of his lyrics. His own long years of self-doubt, anxiety, addiction and illness are famously documented in many of the songs.

Yet his live performances sparkle with love and good humour, sending audiences away with a sense of life-affirming uplift. One in four people will struggle with depression at some point in their lives, and John's refreshing honesty has helped send a message to isolated music fans around the world that they're not alone.

He chats to Tom about how the inspiration of hearing great records - and the rewarding struggle of creating his own - have helped light his own path back from the abyss.

Tom will also be catching up with some of the best Live Music from the festival, including tracks from the 麻豆社 6 Music Recommends night and 麻豆社 Music Introducing show.

Huw Stephens from Radio 1 shares his personal tip from 麻豆社 Introducing, as does one of the Introducing shows from around the UK.
At 11 o'clock Tom launches The After Hour, where he dusts off tracks from the outer reaches of his record collection.
