Email hacking; E-cigarette tests; Probiotics
The home-buyers falling victim to email hackers and losing hundreds of thousands of pounds. Plus behind the scenes at the company investing millions developing new e-cigarettes.
We report on the fraudsters who're stealing millions of pounds every year by hacking into people's emails when they're buying and selling houses. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau monitors cases where criminal gangs interfere with the process. They say conveyancing frauds happen twice a week and can earn up to 拢1 million on a sale in the south east.
We'll speak to one disabled man who lost 拢27,000 when emails between him and his solicitor were hacked, and hear what the Law Society hopes to do to address it.
Retailers who sell e-cigarettes have until the end of the week to make sure the products they're selling comply with new rules. The Tobacco Products Directive brings in minimum standards for the safety and quality of all e-cigarettes and refill containers. Manufacturers have already had to bring their products up to these standards - the deadline for them was in November. We'll report from inside the British American Tobacco research site in Southampton. They employ a team of scientists to look at safety, and also develop new ideas. We'll also hear from the academics, who're concerned about how e-cigarettes may affect those who use them.
And our supermarket shelves and pharmacies now stock an array of products containing live bacteria and yeasts that claim to be able to influence our gut for the better. But when you buy a probiotic yoghurt, what are you getting for your money, and how effective will it be? We'll speak to Dr Michael Mosley - the man credited with inventing the 5:2 diet - about some new research he's done looking at the key to a healthy gut.
