Cyber UK, Mobile phone charges, Granny chic
How can leading experts on cyber crime protect us from fraud online? The listener charged hundreds of pounds for porn she knew nothing about. Younger women choosing grey hair.
The UK's leading experts on Cyber crime are meeting in Liverpool this week for a three-day summit. "Cyber UK" is organised by the National Cyber Security Centre which was set up last year by the government, with the aim of making the UK the safest place to live and do business online. Cyber attacks can be against individuals, companies, or governments. Delegates will explore ways of deterring would-be attackers. In recent years, You & Yours has heard the stories of countless victims of online fraud and scams. We examine what can really be done to protect ordinary people from the growing threat online.
How can you get your money back if you are charged via your mobile phone bill for something you neither ordered nor received? One You & Yours listener spotted that she had been charged hundreds of pounds for pornography that she knew nothing about. She demanded a refund, but her mobile phone company said they were simply charging her on behalf of a third party, a Cyprus based company, Mobster Ltd. We hear expert advice on how to avoid spurious charges like this.
It's been called "granny chic". The fashion for young woman to dye their hair grey. It was quite the thing a few years ago after the likes of Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Nicole Richie opted for the silvery look. But what seemed to be just a passing fad is still going strong, with sales of grey hair dye increasing year on year. We find out why anyone would choose to go grey, before they have to.
