The Death of Bob Woolmer
On the tenth anniversary of the mysterious death of former Kent player and Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, Alison Mitchell finds out what impact his death had on Pakistan and cricket.
Bob Woolmer's sudden death in a Jamaican hotel room in 2007 rocked the world of international cricket. The former Kent player and Pakistan coach sparked a murder investigation and allegations of links to organised crime. Although the coroner gave open verdict, he refused to rule out foul play.
Ten years on, the mystery of what really happened during Bob Woolmer's final hours remains unsolved. Meanwhile in Pakistan, Woolmer was posthumously granted one of the country's highest honours and had a national cricket academy named after him.
Alison Mitchell was the last person to interview Woolmer and followed the events after his death closely. Ten years on, she revisits the people she met back then to find out what impact Woolmer's death has had on international cricket and Pakistan.
