An election result that has rocked the political world
Breaking news and hard-hitting talk. There has been a seismic shock as unionism loses its overall majority at Stormont for the first time in Northern Ireland's history.
It has been the biggest shocks to the political landscape in the history of Northern Ireland. For the first time there is no unionist majority at Stormont. Sinn Fein has had its best result ever, coming less than two thousand votes - and just one seat - behind the DUP. And Northern Ireland's founding party, the UUP, have slipped into fourth place, behind both their nationalist rivals.
