Breaking Free: Schoenberg's Choral Music

Sara Mohr-Pietsch explores the choral music of Arnold Schoenberg. Plus an amateur choir introducing themselves and a Choral Classic: Beethoven's Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage.

As part of Radio 3's season "Breaking Free - the minds that changed music", exploring the music of the Second Viennese School, Sara Mohr-Pietsch is joined by singer Rebecca Lodge to explore the choral music of Arnold Schoenberg. Sara's choral classic comes from the First Viennese school, in the form of Beethoven's glorious and little-known masterwork Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage. There are other pieces for voices by Haydn, Bob Chilcott and Rachmaninov, and it's another amateur choir's turn to introduce themselves in 'Meet my Choir'.
