The In Touch Christmas Stocking
Peter White is joined by Tom Walker, Tony Shearman and Chris McCausland to talk about suitable gift ideas for blind or visually impaired people, with a few surprises along the way.
Peter White is joined in the studio by Tom Walker, Tony Shearman and comedian Chris McCausland for a Christmas edition of the programme, to discuss suitable gift ideas for blind and partially-sighted people. We also hear from listeners with their experiences of being blind.
Tom talks to Mel Griffiths who recently won a court case against a taxi driver who refused to take her and her guide dog.
Tony looked at an instrument puzzle which plays a tune when all the pieces are correctly inserted.
Chris brought in his Bedlam Box which requires the user to replace different shaped pieces into a box.
Tom also tested a proto-type white cane which emits a sound when the cane comes close to an object.
And Tony thought that a good gift for Peter might be an hour's training on a smart phone at a location of your choice, which is offered by the RNIB.
