Live Coverage
David Dimbleby and Aasmah Mir present live coverage of commemorations marking a century since the Battle of Jutland, a pivotal point in the First World War.
David Dimbleby and Aasmah Mir present live coverage from the Orkney Islands of commemorations marking the Battle of Jutland, one of the greatest sea battles in naval history and a pivotal point in the First World War. Two hundred and fifty warships from Britain and Germany clashed head to head in the North Sea, with one in ten sailors losing their lives. Naval historian Dr Sam Willis explores the battle on board the modern-day warship HMS Diamond and experiences the power of naval gunfire up close. A century on, the Duke of Edinburgh and the German president join local people, descendants of those who fought and currently serving sailors to remember all those who died.
