Louise White sits in for Fiona Stalker and is joined by Shona Thomson, who talks about what it takes to run a marathon on every continent.
This week Louise White will be keeping the hotseat warm for Fiona Stalker! This week's special guest is a lady who has ran a marathon on every continent in the world - Shona Thomson will be revealing just what it takes to carry out such a feat. If such extreme behaviour is way beyond your weekend plans, Louise will also be finding out about some less demanding but equally rewarding hiking trails to enjoy closer to home! We catch up with some of the youngsters from the Polar Academy and Steve Owens updates Louise on all things astronomical. Are you finding it hard to tear your kids away from their tablets and computer games? Fiona Bird has some practical ideas to make the outdoors more attractive to the youngsters in your life! Did you know that wild violets have a neat back-up trick to make babies if there aren't any pollinators around? The Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland's Louise Welsh will be giving Louise White the lowdown on this pretty wildflower which boasts five varieties and that's just in Scotland. In anticipation of British Science Week, Louise will be exploring the science of flight and participating in a live experiment with the help of Matt Burke. And why on earth would you want to spend your weekend tackling mud-splattered obstacles and punishing hills and trails? Jim Mee will be revealing all.
