Masood tries to get through to Shirley. Can he convince her to do what he thinks is right? Carol opens up to Whitney about her feelings.
Jane tries to reassure Masood that he鈥檚 done the right by thing by handing Shirley Jade鈥檚 address, but Masood is not so sure. Buster tries to take in the news that Jade is alive and urges Shirley not to tell Dean 鈥 concerned that he鈥檒l be a mess. Shirley states that she doesn鈥檛 want history to repeat itself 鈥 she kept it from Dean who his real dad was for years. However, seeing Dean content that things are going well for a change, Shirley keeps quiet. Masood corners Shirley and questions whether she鈥檚 been to see Jade 鈥 Shirley admits she hasn鈥檛. Masood invites Shirley back to his, explaining that he鈥檚 only come to her because he has no other choice.
Masood purports that if he goes and gets Jade himself, then he will lose Shabnam 鈥 but Shirley is Jade鈥檚 family and that has to be better than what Jade has now. When Shirley exclaims that she needs time to think, Masood presents her with his picture of Jade, before commanding her to go and get her granddaughter. In the Vic, when Shirley receives a text from Masood suggesting that maybe this time she can get things right, she immediately ups and leaves. Shirley crosses Linda and asks after Ollie 鈥 Linda tells her to stay away; he鈥檚 nothing to do with Shirley. Shirley turns up outside Jade鈥檚 foster home and pauses outside the house. Shirley nervously knocks on the door and is greeted by Jade鈥檚 foster father. Shirley barges in and introduces herself to the girl from the photo as her grandmother, but is left shocked when a girl wearing an oxygen mask appears, stating that she鈥檚 Jade...
Stacey sees Kush in the caf茅 who consoles her that he鈥檚 sorted things with Shabnam 鈥 convincing her that she didn鈥檛 see what she thought she saw. Stacey suggests that after this lunch time鈥檚 practice, they should stay out of each other鈥檚 way. Stacey finds Shabnam in the Minute Mart and apologises, but Shabnam is adamant that it was her being stupid; Kush explained everything. Stacey admits that she knows that Shabnam has had a falling out with Masood, but Shabnam immediately asks her to drop it. Stacey watches on bitterly as Shabnam and Kush flirt on the stall next to hers. When Stacey suggests that maybe the lads should practice the routine without her from now on, Shabnam interjects 鈥 she鈥檚 counting on Stacey to make Kush look good.
A downtrodden Stacey accosts Sonia and invites her for a lunchtime drink, claiming she鈥檚 in the mood to get drunk. When Kush and Martin arrive at the Vic too, Stacey assures Kush that she doesn鈥檛 have a problem with him being there; they鈥檙e just mates having a drink. Sonia clocks Stacey staring in Martin鈥檚 direction and jumps to conclusions. As Stacey gets drunk, Kush watches on as she flirts with Martin. Kush corners Stacey and suggests she slow down, but she remains cold. Sonia suggests to Stacey that she needs to find a man and asks whether she has her eye on anyone, but Stacey claims it鈥檚 too complicated. After Sonia suggests that if Stacey has feelings for someone then she should just come clean, Stacey heads to find Kush, but is left disappointed when he finds him loved up with Shabnam.
In the Butchers鈥, as Liam and Tina bicker, Carol loses it and berates the pair for being petty. Whitney watches on, concerned. Whitney finds Carol alone and questions what鈥檚 really wrong 鈥 Carol hands Whitney her breast reconstruction letter. Whitney tries to help Carol see the positive side; it鈥檚 only a review, with the option of reconstruction. Carol admits that receiving the letter has sent her back to how she felt a year ago; scared and angry. When Whitney tries to reassure Carol that she鈥檚 not alone, Carol mopes that that鈥檚 exactly how she feels. Later, Whitney summons Liam and Tina for a talk. Whitney firmly tells the pair that it鈥檚 unfair that Carol has been doing everything on her own 鈥 from now on, they split the chores and contribute to housekeeping.
On the Masala Masood stall, Roxy makes mistakes and begs to keep her job when Masood hints that maybe it isn鈥檛 for her; Masood reluctantly agrees. When Masood arrives back on the stall from his chat with Shirley he tells Roxy that he can鈥檛 justify paying anyone, but is thwarted when she presents a wad of cash from her money belt; she鈥檚 exploited the lunch time rush. Roxy returns home to Ronnie and Charlie with an abundance of leftover food from the stall, before proudly announcing that Masood wants her to stay on. In her bedroom, Ronnie watches Charlie and Roxy鈥檚 conversation on her iPad, and hears Roxy profess that she鈥檚 not really planning on leaving.
