Liam
Logan takes a run to Gorteade, near Upperlands, and drops in on an open day for
Kilronan School, where he meets the next best thing to Pocahontas, hears about
Charles Thompson and the American Revolution, sees a restored beetling engine,
and listens to Willie Drennan鈥檚 new song to the last of the beetlers. The 100th
anniversary of the sinking of the Lusitania
is this month, and Liam remembers the Ulster Scots author, Archibald McIlroy of
Ballyclare, one of almost 1200 people who perished when the great liner was
torpedoed. With the Balmoral Show coming up, Liam meets Jayne Harkness-Bones of
the Northern Ireland Sheep Shearers Association to hear about the competitions,
and he learns why wearing wellies when shearing sheep is not a good notion.
