Carey Mulligan
Carey Mulligan made her name in her first film, An Education – which won her an Oscar nomination – and has been acclaimed since for her work in major films like Shame, Drive, and The Great Gatsby. Now she’s about to appear on the big screen in the lead role of Bathesheba Everdene in the new film version of Thomas Hardy’s Far From The Madding Crowd, first made famous by Julie Christie in 1967. She joins Jenni to talk about taking on this famous role of a strong female in a man’s world, and about her own experiences making it as a young woman in the Hollywood film industry today.

Last night saw the opposition leaders’ debate, featuring three women leaders and two men – what, if any, impact did that have? While this week saw a many of the political parties publish their manifestos. So how are they targeting women voters and with what policy offers? Jenni talks to Allegra Stratton, Political Editor of Â鶹Éç2’s Newsnight.

This week revenge porn was made illegal in England and Wales and anyone spreading it online can now be jailed for up to two years. However the term "Revenge Porn" means something different in honour based communities. Newsnight’s Special Correspondent Katie Razzall tells Jenni about the women she’s spoken to from honour-based backgrounds who’ve found themselves the target of blackmail and the devastating impact it had on their lives.

Katherine Freese is an eminent American cosmologist who’s now the first female director of the prestigious . She’s come a long way since her first year studying Physics at university, when she concluded that she simply wasn’t good enough to stay the course. She ended up being only the second woman to major in Physics at Princeton. Katherine speaks to Jenni about her passion for the search for dark matter, four decades of creative scientific collaboration, and what it takes for women to succeed in science.

Julie Fowlis was last on Woman’s Hour after her first album when she was nominated for Best New Comer at the Radio 2 Folk Awards, she’s now not only nominated for Best Artist but is also presenting at the awards in Cardiff on Wednesday the 22nd. Since her last visit a lot has happened, including singing the theme song from Brave, having two daughters, getting a degree and touring all over the world.Â
