Carter USM Live at Maida Vale
Steve hosts a special concert by Carter USM at Maida Vale - their last-ever performance on the radio before they split up. Plus it marks the start of T-Shirt Day 2014.
Steve takes the show down to the Maida Vale studios to host a very special concert with Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine. Carter USM are a band which Steve has supported from the very beginning and are playing their last ever shows at Brixton Academy later this month, which sold out in minutes. This will be the bands final ever live performance on the radio before they call time on the band. They will play a greatest hits set for the final hour of the show and will be in conversation with Steve Lamacq about their career. Plus, we will be marking the start of the build up to 'Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt To Work Day' 2014, which will be held on Friday November 28th. T-Shirt Day was an initiative which Steve started to encourage people to dig out their old band T-shirts and wear them with pride one day a year. The audience at Maida Vale, will be wearing their old band T-Shirts to celebrate this. Steve says, "Carter USM were one of the first bands I championed while working at the NME, from the backrooms of London's pubs to the top of the summer festival bills, so I'm genuinely pleased that we can see them one last time at Maida Vale.
Both musically and lyrically, they've always been a band who have come up with terrific snapshots of the times. So it's sad they're properly calling it a day, but we wanted a proper tribute for them and for all the listeners who've followed them down the years.".
