Documentary telling the story of the female deep sea divers of Jeju Island, off the coast of South Korea.
Bho na mà thraichean chun nan nighnean, ginealach an dèidh ginealaich. Airson còrr is dà mhìle bliadhna, tha boireannaich Eilean Jeju, far chosta Korea a-Deas, air a bhith nan Haenyothan (daibhearan mara). Tha Na Maighdeannan-Mhara Mu Dheireadh a' leantainn nam boireannach seo, a tha eadar 45- 85 (ceathrad 's a còig - ochdad 's a còig) bliadhna a dh'aois, 's iad a' daibheadh dha na doimhneachdan, gun chà il ach bannan le luaidhe agus sgian bhiorach.
Fon uachdar, tha iad a' faighinn maorach agus ochd-chasaich. Tha iad air seasamh an-aghaidh fhireannach, riaghaltasan agus armailtean gus dìon a chur air na còirichean aca gus an cuid chosnaidh a dhèanamh san dòigh seo. 'S iad seo na Maigheannan-Mhara mu dheireadh.
Mother to daughter, generation after generation. For over 2000 years, the women of Jeju Island off South Korea have survived by becoming Haenyos (women sea divers). The Last Mermaids follows these women, aged 45-85, as they dive deep into the ocean; with only their leaded belts and a sharp knife each, they skillfully pick abalone, top shell and octopus. They have fought men, governments and armies to protect their right to make a living from the sea. These are The Last Mermaids.
