Fears over plastic packaging
Food and drinks packaging helps food to stay fresh and enjoy a longer shelf life.
Plastic is commonly used in food containers, bottles and wrapping materials as well as in the linings of tin cans.
But plastic packaging containing Bisphenol A (also known as BPA) has come under increasing scrutiny.
In France the decision has been taken to ban BPA from food packaging from 1 January 2015 as a result of health fears.
However, other government scientists around the world say it is safe to consume food and drinks from BPA plastic packaging at low levels.
