Investigative guides which reveal amazing facts about members of the animal kingdom. This episode features Gus, a three-month-old North American grizzly bear who lives with his mum and brother.

At the moment he is quite small, but one day he will be huge - a big grizzly can weigh as much as a small car! Dad is no longer around; male grizzlies don't help bringing up the babies and they live quite a solitary existence. When they are born, it is important to stay warm, so Gus and the family stay in their den until April.

Grizzlies spend half their lives asleep. They hibernate for six months of the year in an underground den without eating or drinking anything. Bears eat everything humans eat, and more. Three quarters of their diet is fruit, berries and grasses, but they will eat pretty much anything and this helps them gain weight before winter sets in again. Eating and sleeping... a grizzly's life isn't that bad!
