The Sound of Style: 1973-1980

Shaun Keaveny and Matt Everitt continue to celebrate the Sound of Style season, plus the puppets from new children's TV show The Furchester Hotel join Shaun in the studio.

We celebrate the launch of The Sound of Style season, a collaboration between 麻豆社 Four and 6 Music looking at the love affair and inextricably linked relationship between fashion and music since the 1960s.

Episode two of 麻豆社 Four's three-part series, Oh You Pretty Things, airs tonight at 9pm. It is narrated by Lauren Laverne and each episode is sound-tracked by a 6 Music presenter, bringing their music expertise to showcase the social history, sounds and looks of the period. Stuart Maconie has sound-tracked episode two, which looks at the 1970s. Across the day, 6 Music shows will be styling their music and chat around the 70s, playing the tracks Stuart selected - plus other gems from that decade - and hearing from Stuart about his music choices.

On each Wednesday the series airs, 6 Music will be playing music across the shows reflecting the years covered in that evening's programme, so today will be styling their music and chat around the 1970s.

Getting into the spirit of The Sound of Style, this morning Shaun and his roving music news reporter, Matt Everitt, will be filmed acting out a narrative from a song relevant to this evening's episode of Oh You Pretty Things. Dressed in appropriate attire, the pair will be picking a song from the 70s and asking listeners to guess which one it is they are acting out. 6 Music will also be bringing its own alternative spirit to The Sound of Style season with further tailored programming through originations and its regular shows with special guests exploring further the themes of fashion and music.

Plus, the puppets from CBeebies new show The Furchester Hotel join Shaun in the studio. Seasame Street's Elmo and the Cookie Monster join a new cast of puppets on The Furchester Hotel.
