A fifth of married people in the UK have a secret from their partner that could destroy their marriage, new research has revealed.ÌýAnd despite 42 per cent saying they don't think they will get caught out, many have suffered with sleepless nights, mood swings and constant guilt because of it.ÌýWhile the average secret has been kept for nearly ten years a quarter of respondents said they had been hiding the truth about something from their husband or wife for more than 25 years. The secrets kept by the 2,175 people involved in the study ranged from infidelity to money troubles to keeping pornography. It was commissioned by the law firm Slater & Gordon. Sheila McClennon speaks to agony aunt, Anna Raeburn and Susanna Abse, couples psychotherapist and chief executive of the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships.
