Allan Campbell commences a journey through the communities on the shores of Loch Bracadale in Skye. His main companion on the journey is retired teacher and forensic scientist Murdo Beaton, who was born and raised in the area and whose family has been established here for generations. Their first excursion is a boat trip of several miles to the Macleod's Maidens, three basalt pillars in the sea at the north entrance to Loch Bracadale. Murdo describes the coastline and he discusses some of its history and place names, and the programme includes a 1969 School of Scottish Studies archive insert of Iain Fraser interviewing Murdo Campbell of Greep about local place names.
