Naomi Long MP

Naomi Long听was working as a civil engineerwhen the Good Friday Agreement was signed in Northern Ireland 15 years ago. Today she鈥檚 deputy leader of the Alliance Party and in 2010 caused what鈥檚 been described as the biggest upset of the general election there when she defeated First Minister Peter Robinson in east Belfast, winning her party its first seat at Westminster. She recently found herself facing a death threat following the decision to fly the union flag over Belfast City Hall on designated days only.听

Meddling in the love lives of others

Isy Suttie is an award winning stand-up comedian, actress, writer, composer and musician. She is best known for playing the role of Dobby in the sitcom Peep Show. 听She currently has a series on Radio 4Extra, with tales of love stories, told partly through song, and often including real-life anecdotes from her own, often disastrous, love life. Isy joins Samira Ahmed, along with the journalist and broadcaster Anne Atkins, to discuss the pros and perils of 鈥榤eddling鈥 in the love lives of others.

Learning a Trade at School

From this year young people will be required to stay on in education or training until the end of the academic year in which they turn 17 and 18 years old by 2015. This means schools need to think of ways to engage with students who would normally want to move on as soon as possible. Harris Academy in Peckham has its very own salon, where Year 10鈥檚 try their hand at hairdressing. To discuss the value of vocational training, Samira is joined by Simon Shaw, Head of Vocational education at Ashfield School, Nottingham and Dr Tina Isaacs from the Institute of Education.
