Ath-bheothachadh Iùthaich sa Phòlainn
Tha Iùthaich air a bhith a’ fuireach sa Phòlainn airson mu thimcheall air mìle bliadhna agus e aithnichte aig aon à m mar dhùthaich ioma-chinneachail agus ioma-chultairail. Dh’atharraich seo ri linn an dà rna cogadh oir ghiùlain a’ Phòlainn an sgrios-cinnidh as ainmeile a bh’ann a-riamh - air sgà th ’s eagal bho bhith a’ fulang leithid grà in-cinnidh no leth-bhreith. Dh’fhalaich mòran dha na h-Iùthaich an cuid dualchais airson iad fhèin a dhìon. Leis an sin tha iomadh neach an-diugh air fhà gail gun fhios aca cò iad no cò dha am buin iad agus iad dhan togail mar Chaitligich ach aig a’ cheart à m, tha tòrr ag ionnsachadh gum buin iad bho thùs do theaghlach Iùthach – mar sin, tha sinn a’ faicinn ath-bheothachadh às ùr a’ tighinn air a’ chreideamh Iùthach. An ath mhìos, bithear a’ comharrachadh 70 bliadhna bho ar-a-mach ghetto Warsaw. Tha taigh-tasgaidh mu eachdraidh Iùthaich Phòlannach a’ fosgladh am bliadhna-sa air là rach far an robh ghetto Warsaw agus iad airson am beartas shìobhaltas aca a chomharrachadh - coimhearsnachd a bha aig à m air fhalach, a-nis a’ faighinn ath-bheothachadh às ùr.
Jewish revival in Poland
Jews have been staying in Poland for about a thousand years and it was known at one time as a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural country. This changed at the time of the Second World War as Poland conducted the worst ethnic cleansing that has ever occurred – because of the fear that it would suffer similar racial hatred, or discrimination. Many of the Jews hid their heritage to save themselves. As such, there are many people today are left who do not know who they are, or where they came from and they have been brought up as Catholic, but at the same time, many have learned that they were originally Jewish. Consequently, we are seeing a revival of the Jewish faith. Next month, will mark 70 years since the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. A museum about Polish Jewish history is opening this year on the site where the Warsaw ghetto was and they want to celebrate their rich civilisation – a community which was at one time hidden, which is now enjoying a new revival.
