Helena Rubinstein founded a business empire that made her one of the richest women in the world, but her beginnings were very humble. Born in Poland, the eldest of eight daughters,听she left听the country,听aged听24 to avoid a marriage her parents were keen to impose on her. She arrived in Australia with just a parasol, 12 jars of mother鈥檚 face cream and an inexhaustible supply of chutzpah. Karen Mok: one of the most successful Asian recording artists of all time
You might not know her name, but Karen Mok is one of the most successful Asian recording artists of all time, having released 15 multi-platinum albums, and as an actress she has starred in over 40 films. Now she鈥檚 releasing her first English language album 鈥 a jazz album and featuring her on the traditional Chinese instrument, the guzheng. Karen joins Aasmah and performs live in听the studio.听

Child protection reforms
On Monday the second reading of the Children and Families Bill will take place. Part of that Bill contains government proposals to reform the child protection system. The All Party Parliamentary Group set up to investigate these changes has produced a report suggesting that the plans do not go far enough to remedy the acute problems of a system creaking under the strain of its workload. Meg Munn MP, and Chair of this APPG discuss their concerns. We also hear from 20 year old, Amy O'Donohoe, who was in care from the age of 14, and Debbie Jones,听President of the Association of Directors of Children's Services.听

Mia Wasikowska听was the top grossing actress of 2010. Aged just 23, she has played the lead in films, such as Alice in Wonderland and Jane Eyre. She also starred alongside Julianne Moore and Annette Bening in the Kids Are Alright. In her latest film, the psychological thriller Stoker, Mia again in the lead role听plays a rather glum teenager who becomes infatuated by her strange uncle. Her mother is played by Nicole Kidman. Mia joins Aasmah to discuss.
