As Whitchurch Hospital - one of the last psychiatric hospitals in Wales - faces closure, cameras follow a patient as he undertakes a detox programme to stop his alcohol dependency.
Peace of Mind casts light on an often unknown, unseen world inside one of the last remaining psychiatric hospitals of its kind in Wales. Built in 1908, Whitchurch Hospital in North Cardiff is facing its final days before closing its doors for good. With unique access inside the hospital, our cameas follow the difficult steps taken by Colin Thrupp, aged 51, of Ely in Cardiff, to undertake a detox programme designed to break his dependence on alcohol and address his long-term depresssion. Meanwhile, members of the crisis team share insights into the challenges and stresses of a busy working day where their sole aim is to prevent admission to hospital and treat patients in the community.
