With Fay Hield
An hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music including an interview with Fay Hield.
Mike Harding presents an hour of the very best in folk, roots and acoustic music including news from the world of folk and the latest album releases.
This week, Mike talks to Yorkshire-born folk singer Fay Hield about her new album Orfeo. After working with Damien Barber (The Demon Barbers) and vocal trio The Witches of Elswick, Fay's breakthrough as a solo artist came in 2010 when Topic Records released her debut record, Looking Glass. That album earned Fay a nomination for the Horizon Award at the 麻豆社 Radio 2 Folk Awards.
The new album sees Fay backed by a band, The Hurricane Party, which includes some of the finest musicians on the current British folk scene: Jon Boden, Andy Cutting, Robert Harbron and Sam Sweeney. Martin Simpson also guests on the album.
Fay talks to Mike about the new album and the weird and wonderful stories behind the traditional material she specialises in.
