Eddie Mair speaks to Bill Lucas, an athlete who won the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in Bomber Command during the Second World War. Bill had pinned his hopes on a medal in the 1940 Olympics, but the war intervened, and his next opportunity came in London 1948, long after he had passed his best. Your News is read by Jeremy Vine.
