Wednesday - Sean Rafferty

Sean Rafferty presents music and guests from the arts world, including violinist Maxim Vengerov in his first broadcast performance since returning from a sabbatical.

In an exciting In Tune exclusive, violinist Maxim Vengerov will be giving his first broadcast performance since returning to the violin after his injury-enforced sabbatical. Vengerov's international virtuoso career was kicked off by winning the Wieniawski competition in Poland aged 11. Rated one of the world's greatest violinists, the Siberian born musician hasn't played in public since summer 2007 because of an arm injury. Performing live in the In Tune studio, he returns to playing the violin for his first broadcast ahead of his concert at Wigmore Hall. Sean Rafferty's guests today also include conductor Stephen Cleobury with soloists from his upcoming performance at King's College Cambridge of Elgar's The Apostles.
