Fionna Duncan
Scotland's first lady of jazz Fionna Duncan has worked with some of the biggest names in the business and she introduces Phil Cunningham to five classic tracks.
Fionna Duncan has been involved in the world of Jazz for over fifty years.
Growing up in Garelochhead Fionna says she was Influenced by the likes of the great Louis Armstrong and she was soon singing in Glasgow nightclubs and was a singer with The Clyde Valley Stompers.
She's worked with some of the best known names in the world of Jazz including Humphrey Lyttleton, Kenny Ball and Grover Washington and has performed in top Jazz venues in London, Europe and in the United States.
Passionate about encouraging youngsters she ran workshops in Scotland for several years and her outstanding talent was recognised when she collected the Best Jazz Vocalist award at the 2009 Scottish Jazz Awards.
