The Harris Tweed trademark, the Orb, this year celebrates one hundred years in existence. Millions of yards of the material have been woven and stamped since 1911 and the industry has gone through huge peaks and troughs over the years. This year, however, has seen its image elevated to new heights and Harris Tweed has now become the hottest fashion product in town. But how and why has this come about? Christine Macleod takes a snapshot of the industry in 2011.
