Andrew Collins sits in

Andrew Collins sits in for Shaun Keaveny and brings the tunes, The Band to Blur, The Zombies to Zero 7, plus actor Maxine Peake brings the rare seven inch collection!

Andrew Collins sits in for Shaun Keaveny and takes a rib-tickling satirical romp through the day's news and events, to the perfect morning soundtrack for any music-lover; from northern soul to new folk; rock 'n' roll to indie disco. New tracks from the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Anna Calvi, My Morning Jacket and Michael Kiwanuka delightfully massage your semi-conscious ears, along with the best of the greatest back-catalogues on the planet; be they David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Les Paul & Mary Ford and Sex Pistols.

Thursday also brings brilliant actress and friend of 6 Music on to the show; Maxine Peake joined Andrew after 9am. Maxine has taken to the stage to play Laura in Loyalty, the debut play from writer and journalist Sarah Helm. It follows the impact that the Iraq war had as it entered into the home of one of the Prime Minister's closest aides. Rows over Weapons of Mass Destruction break out at a children's birthday party, the couple listen in to the Prime Minister's phone calls to George Bush, and shocking revelations emerge about British intelligence over a dinner at Number 10 in a gripping and often hilarious drama. Plus, Andrew asks Maxine about her rare 7" collection which incudes Benny Hill's Ernie (The Fastest Milkman In The West) which we think is is pretty brilliant!
