Australian Emma Moffatt starts the race in pole position after several podium places at the start of the six-month long event; she holds a 52-point advantage over New Zealand's Andrea Hewitt, who finished third in Kitzbuhel.

Britain's Helen Jenkins starts the event in fourth place overall; the 2008 world champion's immediate aim is to catch Sweden's Lisa Norden, who has an eight point advantage over her in third position.
