Claire Martin with the latest jazz news and releases from the UK's vibrant jazz scene. Plus an interview with vocalist Norma Winstone profiling her new collaborative release, 'Stories Yet To Tell', released on the iconic ECM label. Winston, long established as one of Britain's most disctinctive jazz singers, has a long history of working with ECM having first appeared on the label in 1977 (Azimuth Trio ). Her latest venture, 'Stories Yet To Tell', was recorded in collaboration with Klaus Gesing (bass clarinet/soprano saxophone) and Glauco Venier (Piano). This is the second release from the British-German-Italian trio to appear on the ECM imprint, their first recording, 'Distances', having previously been nominated for a Grammy Award in 2009.The album's repertoire is gathered from across many continents including music from Mexico, Armenia as well as adaptations of Friulian folk fongs, a 13th Century Troubadour ballad and 'chamber' pieces influenced by contemporary and classical composition.
