Drochaidean is Cabhsairean
An t-seachdain-sa air ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ tha sinn a' sgrùdadh ceangalaichean
còmhdhail. Anns an deich thar fhichead bliadhna a dh'fhalbh tha
leasachadh mòr air tighinn air còmhdhail anns na h-eileanan. Tha sgìrean
eileanach nas dlùithe an-diugh na bha iad riamh roimhe. Còig bliadhna
deug às dèidh drochaid an Eilein Sgiathanaich, tri bliadhna deug à s
dèidh drochaid Scalpaigh, is ochd bliadhna às deidh cabhsair Eirisgeigh,
a bheil seo air an adhartas a bha dùil a thoirt dha na sgìrean seo?
Bridges and Causeways
This week on ·¡Ã²°ù±è²¹ we examine the effects of transport links on island communities. The last thirty years have seen huge improvements in transport links both to and between islands, resulting in closer and more integrated communities. Fifteen years have passed since the Skye Bridge opened, thirteen since the Scalpay Bridge and eight since the Eriskay causeway. We investigate whether these communities have reaped the predicted benefits of improved transport links.
