The Ricercar Consort under Philippe Pierlot performs three of Bach's earliest cantatas: Komm, du susse Todesstundel; Christ lag in Todesbanden; Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit.

In a concert given at the historic Greyfriars Kirk as part of the 2009 Edinburgh International Festival, the Ricercar Consort, directed from the viol by Philippe Pierlot, performs three of Bach's earliest cantatas, all written when the composer was in his 20s. It includes the punchy Lutheran funeral cantata Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, also known as Actus tragicus.
