Penny Gore presents part of a series of concerts in which the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment perform some of Mendelssohn's best-loved chamber music for wind and strings at St George's, Bristol. For Radio 3's Mendelssohn anniversary celebrations.

Including one of the composer's most popular works - the Octet for strings in E flat - written when he was only 16, yet widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of string repertoire.
