With the Oscars coming up, the Culture Show brings an alternative - the Kermode Awards. With no tearful winners or embarrassing speeches, the Kermodes are the antidote to the Oscars. The awards only go to those who have been overlooked by the Academy. Previous winners include David Lynch, Nick Park and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead.

There will also be a surprise special guest on stage to receive the illustrious Kermode Award for Lifetime Achievement. We also reveal the winner of the first ever Anti-Kermode, a title that goes to the viewer who has disagreed with Mark most convincingly about one of his reviews.

As with the Oscars, huge secrecy surrounds the Kermodes but insiders are tipping the likes of director Terence Davies, and actors Michael Fassbender and Eddie Marsden to do well. Films tipped to do well include Gomorrah, High School Musical 3, and Son of Rambow.

Also in the show, Lauren Laverne previews a new production of Waiting for Godot, which first hit British theatres fifty years ago, and was famously called a play in which 'nothing happens, twice'. Before the play goes on a UK tour in the spring, the team talk to Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, film megastars and renowned Shakespearean actors. How will they take to playing Vladimir and Estragon, two tramps on the road to nowhere?
