Lopa Kothari presents a mix of music from around the world, and introduces more recordings made at the WOMAD 2008 Festival in July 2008, including Senegalese singer/songwriter Wasis Diop.

Radio 3 recorded 35 acts from 4 different stages at this year's WOMAD Festival, including musicians from as far afield as Uzbekistan, Kenya and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Lopa Kothari introduces more of these recordings in tonight's World on 3, including the Senegalese singer/songwriter and opera composer Wasis Diop.
Wasis Diop, like his compatriot Youssou N'Dour, is one of the few African artists to score a top 50 chart hit in the UK, a feat achieved by his 1996 single African Dream.
More recently he has produced albums for country singer Serah, and composed the opera 'Opera du Sahel', which has been performed in Amsterdam and Paris.
