Son of Rambow
Set in 1980s Britain this film is the story of two boys - the innocent Will Proudfoot who has been brought up by Plymouth brethren and has never watched television or seen a film, and the tearaway, lawless Lee Carter, whose ambition is to make a film with his brother鈥檚 video recorder. When the na茂ve Will sees a pirated copy of Rambo: First Blood he is swept away by it and joins forces with Will to make their own action adventure film, Son of Rambow.

The Enchantress of Florence
Salman Rushdie鈥檚 new book spans the worlds of the Mughal emperor Akbar the Great and Renaissance Florence. It begins with the arrival at Akbar鈥檚 court of a fair, young European traveller dressed in a multi-coloured leather coat. The stranger claims to be a relation to Akbar and the tale he has to tell begins to obsess the whole imperial capital.

The Enchantress of Florence is published by Jonathan Cape.

Contains Violence
Created by David Rosenberg, a founder member of Shunt, Contains Violence takes place in an office block across the square from the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith. The audience, seated on the theatre's roof terrace, are provided with binoculars and headphones to immerse themselves in the stories taking place in the windows opposite. The story that unfolds concerns a female in one office and a man in another office on a different floor. They appear to be having a relationship, but we are not sure. It seems likely that a violent act will be committed before the drama is played out.

Contains Violence is at The Lyric Hammersmith in London until April 26.
