Diamonds and Justice

Liberian Charles Taylor was on trial in the Hague in January for, allegedly, backing rebels in neighbouring Sierra Leone. Is he as evil as the West claims?

International documentary series. Liberian Charles Taylor stands trial in the Hague for allegedly backing rebel soldiers in neighbouring Sierra Leone with his diamond mining profits. His charges are horrific: he is accused of using child soldiers, condoning amputations and rape and putting mining communities into poverty. But Taylor insists that he is the victim of a neo-colonial conspiracy. His ex-wife Jewel says he would be incapable of such evil, so who is Charles Taylor really?
