"The Archers broke me." Listeners react to tragedy in Ambridge 馃挃

On 23 February the Grundy family were in shock as Nic Grundy died of sepsis at the age of 37. kissed goodbye to her three small children - Jake, Mia and Poppy in ICU and passed away with by her side.

But it wasn't just the Grundy family who were united in grief, Archers listeners were rocked by the tragic events too...

Not least us...

The shock of it...

馃槶

Pass the tissues...

Luckily there were some shining knights...

Because sometimes life is like that...

Though the signs were there...

Group therapy required...

Many people shared their own experiences and those of friends and family...

Back in February 1996 I had sepsis, found it difficult to complete sentences is my main memory. The doctor, bless her, rushed me off to hospital... despite me arguing (as best I could) that "I don't do hospitals". Thankfully it was not as far developed as it was for Nic (although red tracks up my arm from the infected finger nail) and three weeks later I was fully recovered. I have found this story line totally believable (it just comes out of nowhere) and shocking as to just how dangerous this (I had thought trivial) condition is. [Mary Dorrell on ]

It's important that we all know the signs...

What will happen next? How will Ambridge react to the tragic news?

This is going to be the nail in the coffin for Brian then. She was ‘cleaning trainers’ only a few days ago. It’s all ground pollution that over a 40 year period would have leached through.[Emma Goodridge-Hobson on ]

Not to mention the children 馃挃

And what was it that Nic said to Joe in her final moments?

Huge love for Becky Wright and whose performance had us in pieces tonight

Thank you for listening everyone. Group hugs and Kefir & Tonics from all of us in Ambridge. Until Sunday...
