10 things we learned about Bastille when they visited the Radio 1 Breakfast Show
We had company for breakfast. Dan and Kyle from stopped by to chat to Nick Grimshaw about life in one the UK's biggest pop bands and bring some lols to have with our tea and toast.
They have recently been announced as performing at Coachella and Reading & Leeds in 2017 and are currently touring their second chart-topping album, Wild World.
So needless to say, things are relatively OK in the world of Bastille right now. Here's what we learned from the boys when they dropped by - and all before 9am.
They usually hate hearing their own songs on the radio - but not today
Like the rest of us, Bastille are only just getting their heads around the whole '2017' thing and going back to work.
"We normally hate hearing our own songs," Dan says after hearing Nick play their songs.
"We had a little break at Christmas, come back and we remember we have a job and we did some stuff."
Here's their new single. It's a good 'un

They still really like being in Bastille, which will come as good news for fans
"It's arguably the best job in the world," says Kyle. "It's difficult to think you're having a bad day because you have to travel somewhere beautiful and play some music at people."
"We work really hard and we're away most of the time and that's what's quite hard," adds Dan.
"Most people's jobs have bad bits when you're knackered and stressed and times when things are good. It's quite a bizarre situation to go from the mad highs of playing a gig to travelling for three days and moments of intense boredom.
"It's a very odd, multi-faceted job but we feel very lucky to do it."
Their gigs are so much better now they have enough songs to fill a setlist
"It's so much fun playing new songs," says Dan of their current tour.
"We spent three years with this one album, as things got bigger and bigger and we were playing hour and half sets but our album was only 45 minutes long - so what were we going to do with the other 45? It's good to have choice now."
Their live shows look pretty now too
And even if you think Bastille are a bit rubbish, Kyle says they've spent so much time on the visuals for their live shows that everyone will enjoy the gig.
"Even if you don't like the music, it looks pretty," he says.
"If you've ever seen one of our shows, everything apart from the visuals looks like an accident," adds Dan.
‘Even if you don’t like the music it looks pretty’- Bastille’s new tour
Their new tour sounds pretty mind blowing!
Be warned if you bump into Bastille in the street, they have some pretty high expectations of their fans
"First of all, we love a standing backflip," says Kyle. "So if you can do a standing backflip you're in the good books right off the bat."
The most uncomfortable person at a Bastille meet and greet is probably one of Bastille
Don't worry if your backflips aren't up to scratch, it would probably only make the band feel more awkward anyway.
"I find it relatively awkward when someone gets really emotional but in a way it's a compliment," says Dan. "We are the most awkward, so whatever happens you'll never be as awkward as we are."
It's safe to say they are reasonably excited about performing at the same show as Beyoncé
Bastille were recently announced as one of the bands performing at Coachella in 2017, and it's safe to say they are reasonably pleased about being on the same line-up as
"As a geeky music fan I’m insanely excited to be there. We're playing on the same day as Beyoncé, which is not something we can often say," says Dan.
The band have previous experience of losing their cool in front of Mrs. Carter
It has happened every time they've ever seen her.
"When we were at Coachella last time, did Losing You at the end of her set and Beyoncé ran out and started dancing with her and I lost it," says Dan.
"I was in the same tent as Beyoncé and she was dancing, just like Beyoncé does. I was the least cool of my life."
Bastille's stories of UK festivals have less of the Knowles sisters and much more mud
Bastille are also playing at Reading & Leeds in 2017, which will probably be a bit less glossy than Coachella, TBH.
"I remember many strange camping experiences at Reading & Leeds with burning tents and mud up to my neck," says Dan. "It's great! The music there is brilliant and I can't wait to play."
They don't dare release music on the same day as Ed Sheeran
Despite being one of the biggest pop bands in the UK, they still don't fancy their chances in the charts against the likes of or
"You don't want to go up against an Adele or Ed Sheeran album," says Dan. I don't think Ed has anything to worry about, he is that guy, he's Adele."
"If he worries about that, then what are we going to do?"
