Your trust is very important to us. This means the Â鶹Éç is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal data. It is important that you read this notice so that you are aware of how and why we are using such personal data. This privacy notice describes how we collect and use personal data about you during and after your relationship with us, in accordance with data protection law.

Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

Â鶹Éç Introducing in Scotland is launching an exciting talent search to uncover the best music and artists the country has to offer. This could be your chance to have your talent broadcast!

To take part, listeners are invited to submit their original track via the Â鶹Éç Introducing uploader (tagging your contribution ‘Scotland 2025’).You can enter as anindividual act or as part of a group. If your entry is composed as part of a group, all relevant members of the group must give their consent for the original composition to be used for the purposes of this talent search

A panel from Â鶹Éç Radio Scotland and Â鶹Éç Music Introducing will review the entries and select 20 acts to put forward to a panel of judges. The judges will shortlist 8 semi-finalists. This shortlist will be announced on Friday 28th February 2025.

The judging panel will then gather, to listen to and take part in an in-depth discussion of each of the Top 8 shortlisted acts. The judges will then select the top 4 finalists and one 5th place contingency plan.

The winner will have the opportunity to record two sessions for Â鶹Éç Introducing in Scotland and receive a much-coveted spot on the River Stage of TRNSMT 2025 as well as a bespoke PR campaign.

Individuals who are shortlisted will be invited to participate in various activities to promote the talent show. For information in relation to how the Â鶹Éç will process your personal data where you are providing contributions to our programmes, please see our Privacy Notice for Contributors .

The Â鶹Éç Introducing production team will collect your personal data for the purposes of promoting and administering the talent search. The Â鶹Éç Introducing production team will collect your personal data via an online platform used by the Â鶹Éç.

If we broadcast your contribution, this may include the programme being available online and/or on demand, and your contribution may be used again in a future broadcast.

What will Â鶹Éç collect and how will we use it?

The Â鶹Éç will collect and process the personal data that you have provided to us about yourself. To enter the talent search you must live in Scotland and be 18 years or older.

The Â鶹Éç will collect and process the following personal data about you or your group:

  • Your postcode
  • Your age
  • Your full name
  • Your audio submission
  • Your bio (if uploaded)

If applicable, the Â鶹Éç will process special category data to provide you with adequate support throughout the talent search.

  • Health data

Background checks

For shortlisted applicants we will carry out online and social media screening checks and may process posts or pictures that you have made public that reveal additional personal data. The Â鶹Éç will use the personal data processed as part of the online and social media screening checks to ensure that the Â鶹Éç is aware of any adverse media or social media posts that may be incompatible with our values or editorial guidelines.

Who is the Data Controller?

The Â鶹Éç is the “Data Controller” of your personal data. This means that the Â鶹Éç decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the Data Controller, the Â鶹Éç has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

Lawful basis for processing your personal data

The lawful basis on which the Â鶹Éç processes the personal data is the performance of its public task. The Â鶹Éç’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates and entertains, and to reflect the United Kingdom and its cultures and values to the world. â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯â€¯â¶Ä¯

The Â鶹Éç processes your health data (if applicable) to provide you with any additional support on the lawful basis that processing is necessary for reasons of Substantial Public Interest. Our processing condition under Schedule 1, paragraph 8 of the Data Protection Act 2018 is ‘Equality of opportunity or treatment’.

The legal basis on which the Â鶹Éç processes the personal data as part of social media checks is our legitimate interest.

Sharing your data

The Â鶹Éç works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the Â鶹Éç and not independently of the Â鶹Éç. We currently use a third-party data storage provider to store your data collected through the uploader form.

Your personal data will be shared with the judging panel for the purpose of this competition.

We may also share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Your personal data will not be transferred outside of the EEA.

Retaining your data

The Â鶹Éç will retain your personal data and your audio recording until 1

April 2025 after which it will be deleted.

If your contribution is used for broadcast, your personal data will be retained and archived in perpetuity by the Â鶹Éç. â¶Ä¯

  • You can request a copy of the personal data Â鶹Éç stores about you. â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯
  • If your personal data is inaccurate, you have the right to have the data rectified. â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯
  • You have the right to ask for the personal data we collect about you to be deleted, however there are limitations and exceptions to this right which may entitle the Â鶹Éç to refuse your request. â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯â¶Ä¯
