Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

The Food Chain’s search for a Global Food Champion is back! We are looking for an individual, a business or project that is trying to change the way we produce, process, consume or even think about the food we eat, from its production to its presentation and consumption, in order to have a lasting effect on our relationship with food.

What personal data will Â鶹Éç collect and how will we use it?

The Â鶹Éç will collect and process the personal data provided on the form for the purposes of administering the Food Chain Global Youth Champion Award 2022 and to get in touch with you about the nomination if applicable.

You and the nominee must be between 18-30 years or old to take part. The award is open globally.

The Â鶹Éç will collect and process the following personal data about you:

  • Your full name
  • Your email address

Your nominee:

  • First name
  • Country of residence
  • Telephone number
  • Email address

If you are nominating a company or project, you have the option to provide a website URL.

If the person you nominate is someone you know personally, you should ensure that you have informed them about the sharing of their personal data with the Â鶹Éç prior to submitting the entry, and ensure you have their permission to do so.

Who is the Data Controller?

The Â鶹Éç is the "data controller" of your personal data. This means that the Â鶹Éç decides what your personal data is used for, and the ways in which it is processed. For the avoidance of doubt, your personal data will be collected and processed solely for the purposes set out in this privacy notice. As the data controller, the Â鶹Éç has the responsibility to comply, and to demonstrate compliance with, data protection law.

The lawful basis on which the Â鶹Éç processes the personal data is performance of its public task. The Â鶹Éç’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates, and entertains.

The Â鶹Éç works with our approved third-party providers who help us to provide some of our services. These partners only use your personal data on behalf of the Â鶹Éç and not independently of the Â鶹Éç.  We use a third-party storage provider to host the data from the online uploader tool.

If you are a finalist your personal data will be shared with the external judges.

The finalists and the winner's name will be announced on air and published online.

We may share personal data with a third party where required or permitted by law.

Retaining your personal data

The Â鶹Éç will retain your personal data and the personal data of the person you nominate for a period of one (1) month after the winner has been announced.

The winner’s personal data will be retained for two (2) years for audit and regulatory purposes.

Your personal data will be stored in the UK and the EEA.

  • If your personal data is inaccurate, you have the right to have the data rectified.
