How to have a happy January: Plan your summer holiday

We're stuck in the middle of January and the world seems kinda bleak.

So we're digging deep to try and bring you the tiniest glimmers of hope to get us through January - with a little help from some of the big name stars who pass through the Radio 1 studios.

We recently bumped into Vicki Pattison and she told us how keeping her mind on summer plans keeps her going through winter.

"January is a bag of ****s, we all know that," she told us in true Vicki style.

When you've got something to look forward to, the fact that Christmas is over doesn't seem so bad.

"It's cold and you feel like there's nothing to look forward to and the only way I get through it is by booking a holiday.

"Not for January, but give yourself something to look forward to. Get your summer holiday with the girls sorted, get all the lasses together, get your brochures out and get it planned. Or book something with your boyfriend, even if it's just a nice weekend away. Whatever it's going to be, book it.

"When you've got something to look forward to, the fact that Christmas is over doesn't seem so bad."

And if you do book yourself, there's a good chance you'll bump into Vicki in one of several exotic destinations in 2017.

"This year I want to travel the world in a big way. I want to do Mykonos, I want to go to Budapest, I want to do Vegas and I want to go to Cuba," she says.

"And that's just the start. I'm sensing i'm going to be the new Judith Chalmers."
