12 reasons Matty Healy probably isn't cut out to be a Radio 1 presenter full time

We love having Matty Healy from in to co-host The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, let's just get that out there first.

He joined Nick today and gave us some A-grade radio, but we're just not sure we're ready to give him his own show just yet. Before we do that, there's a few things he might need to work on. Think of it as constructive criticism and please Matty, come back anytime.

Matty probably wouldn't cope well with five days of early starts a week

"When does it get light in here?" He said. "It feels like living like a mole."

He struggles to keep focused while he's on the job

"Sorry, I was just doing a Snapchat."

His description of being a Radio 1 DJ is pretty bang on though

"It's just mucking about and not really knowing what you're doing"

His approach to charming guests could do with a bit of work

"I liked Sienna Miller in Layer Cake when you see her in her knickers," he said before the Hollywood star arrived in the studio as the morning's guest.

"Don't mention knickers to her when she comes in because I want to seem proper and not like I'm 16 again."

He also tends to overshare live on national radio

"I love Sienna Miller," after the interview.

"I want her to be my mum and my girlfriend. I really did and didn't mean that. She's a very maternal and very sexy lady."

He doesn't know who Vicky Pattison is

"Who's that?"

FYI, this is Vicky Pattison. She's great

But he has already started thinking about a more radio-friendly nickname

"Do you think there are any other Mattys that are well known," he said as he considered losing the surname.

"There's , Pele, Jesus. On my birth certificate I just want 'Matty'."

He doesn't hold back when it comes to pop songs he doesn't know

"What's this now? Don't like the sound of it," he said about one song on the Radio 1 playlist. "Actually, it's alright I quite like it."

"What's this one?" He said about another. "It sounds the same as the last one."

He doesn't enjoy the red carpet lifestyle that comes with being a Radio 1 presenter

"When I've done a red carpet, I thought it would be aligned with respect that you've done something good," he said.

"But when you get there, it's just loads of blokes shouting at you: "OVER HERE, LOOK AT ME!"

He doesn't mix well with other celebs in certain social situations

"I've hung out with a few times, I'm very busy," he said.

"I embarrassed myself the last time I saw him because it was the infamous experience. He got me into a club and was there, I just drank loads and embarrassed myself. I've not heard from him since then."

Also, he is kinda busy being a really successful musician

"This month I'm working on a new band I've found with Jamie, our manager," he said.

"We're always really busy because then we'll be making another 1975 record."

And, like most of us, sometimes all he wants to do is sit in his pants and watch daytime TV

"I do just want to sit there and watch a lot of the time."
